Equity Officer
- I am Achol, a founder and community-driven leader whose journey has been defined by building spaces of belonging, empowerment, and cultural pride. My foundation in Communication Studies has given me the tools to understand how stories shape identity and connection, while my current postgraduate studies in Marketing at Victoria University have sharpened my ability to strategically engage diverse audiences and transform ideas into impactful initiatives. Through my work in establishing platforms that unite diverse voices, I have learned that true leadership is not about titles, but about service, about listening deeply, creating opportunities, and ensuring that every person feels seen and valued. As a founder, I have cultivated the ability to bring people together around shared purpose. I have worked across communities and with stakeholders who hold different perspectives, learning how to bridge gaps, foster trust, and transform dialogue into collective action. These experiences have shaped me into a leader who thrives on collaboration, who understands the power of representation, and who believes that diversity is not just an aspiration, but the foundation of growth.
- Personal Connection to the Mission:

- Stepping into the role of Equity and Diversity Officer for VUPA 2026, my vision is to extend this ethos into the student community. My objective is to make VUPA a place where diversity is not only welcomed but actively celebrated, where students from all backgrounds feel encouraged to join, contribute, and grow together. I intend to draw on my strengths in community engagement, strategic communications, and partnership building to engage and inspire participation by creating inclusive campaigns that invite students from underrepresented groups to see VUPA as their space. Strengthen collaboration with cultural associations, student groups, and external partners, ensuring VUPA reflects the richness of our wider community. My commitment is to ensure that equity and diversity are not abstract ideals, but lived realities within VUPA. By fostering representation, amplifying voices, and cultivating unity, I aim to grow VUPA into a community where difference is strength and where every student can thrive together.
