Hafiz is currently in second year of a PhD in Renewable Energy Integration at Victoria University. His research focuses on optimizing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance grid resilience and stability in high-renewable penetration scenarios.
I bring a strong background in BESS project engineering, grid connection modeling, and energy storage system optimization. With experience in both technical and leadership roles, I’ve worked on large-scale renewable energy projects, engaging with OEMs, contractors, and regulatory bodies to drive successful outcomes.
Personal Connection to VUPA’s Mission:
As an international student, I understand the challenges postgrads face—whether it's navigating research, mental well-being, or professional development. My passion for building an inclusive and supportive postgraduate community led me to join VUPA, where I aim to enhance student engagement, provide valuable resources, and foster a sense of belonging for all postgraduate students at VU.
Hobbies & Fun Facts:
1. I enjoy reading books that challenge perspectives, from business and philosophy to emotionally captivating stories. Some of my favorites include Freakonomics and The Forty Rules of Love.
2. I love camping, trekking, and cycling, as they allow me to connect with nature and challenge myself physically.
3. I have a passion for learning different languages and exploring new cultures.
4. I love traveling, especially experiencing new places like a local rather than just a tourist.
